Croatian authors hold literary promotions in Vienna and Budva

Several Croatian literary figures are holding book promotion events in different regions. In Vienna, the award-winning historical novel ‘Svirači čarobnih frula’ by Mirko Ćurić will be presented at the Croatian Center. The event, organized by Matica hrvatska, Beč, features a musical component with performers including soprano Tanja Ruždjak, pianist Stipe Bilić, and violinist Andrea Nikolić. The music will focus on the works of Jakob Haibel, a composer and tenor born in Graz who lived in Đakovo and was the brother-in-law of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

In Budva, Damir Karakaš is presenting his novel ‘Sunčanik’ at the National Library ‘Miroslav Luketić’. Published by OceanMore, the book follows a grandfather and grandson on a mystical journey through forests and various landscapes. Literary critics have described the work as a layered narrative exploring themes of life, death, and nature, drawing comparisons to the styles of authors like Danilo Kiš and themes found in the works of Andrei Tarkovsky.
