Croatian Caritas raises 140,000 euros for Venezuela earthquake relief

Croatian Caritas has raised and allocated approximately 140,000 euros in aid for Venezuela following devastating earthquakes that struck the state of La Guaira in late June. The humanitarian campaign, titled “For Venezuela – Let’s Return Life to the Ruins!”, ran from July 3 to August 3.

The funds were collected through various channels: nearly 15,000 euros came from almost 18,000 donation phone calls, over 70,000 euros via direct bank transfers, and more than 5,000 euros through the organization's website. Additionally, Croatian Caritas contributed 50,000 euros of its own funds immediately following the disasters.

The earthquakes, which measured magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, resulted in an estimated death toll of over 5,000 people. According to UN estimates, the number of missing persons could reach as many as 50,000, with hundreds of buildings damaged or destroyed.
