Croatian charitable projects aid families and caregivers

The Caritas project "Friends from the Sea" enabled four families from Zagreb, Sisak and Đakovo‑Osijek dioceses to spend a free holiday on the island of Krk, providing 252 overnight stays worth more than €6,000. The families, who rarely or never visit the sea, praised the warm hospitality and the chance to enjoy the beach, historic town and a mass at Krk Cathedral.

The "Rest, you deserve!" initiative, run by the Stančić Rehabilitation Centre, offers respite care for parent‑caregivers and professional caregivers in eastern Zagreb County. Funded with just under €145,000, the year‑and‑a‑half program supports 20 participants—14 parent‑caregivers and six professional caregivers—helping them take needed breaks while ensuring continuous care for their relatives. Officials highlighted its role in preventing institutionalisation and supporting families of people with disabilities.
