Croatian children complete summer reading challenges

Various summer reading competitions for children have concluded in Croatia, highlighting significant engagement with literature among young readers.

In Kaštela, the City Library Kaštela held its Summer Literary Challenge awards ceremony. Top readers included Petra Vitas in the preschool category, Jelena Miše in the primary grades 1-4 category, and Karlo Bašić in the grades 5-8 category. The competition, which has been running since 2014, also recognized the best book reviews written by students.

In Varaždin, the Reading Olympics concluded with a ceremony at the Metel Ožegović City Library and Reading Room. The project, organized in collaboration with the Varaždin County Librarians' Association and the Ivan Belostenca City Library in Lepoglava, involved 94 children. During the summer months, these participants read approximately 2,000 titles. Participants who read 40 or more books were awarded gold medals, while others received silver medals for their efforts.
