Croatian cities face scrutiny over governance and urban services

Recent discussions on the Reddit platform have highlighted various civic and administrative issues across several Croatian cities.

In Rijeka, users have debated the performance of Mayor Iva Rinčić. While some express satisfaction, many critics argue that she has engaged in populism and self-promotion without delivering significant new projects, noting that several major initiatives were actually started by previous administrations.

In Zagreb, discussions centered on urban quality and public services. One thread addressed which Croatian cities are most overrated, with Split and Zagreb receiving significant criticism regarding cleanliness, culture, and livability. Additionally, a public transport strike led to reports of taxi fare manipulation, where a passenger was allegedly charged 19.60 euros for a 2.7-kilometer trip.

Conversely, some citizens reported positive administrative experiences in Zagreb. One resident praised the efficiency of the Zagreb Cadastral Office for resolving a house numbering request within four days, contrasting it with the typical slow pace of local bureaucracy.
