Croatian cities host Children's City Councils for local participation

During Children's Week in Croatia, local leaders in Karlovac and Vinkovci met with members of their respective Children's City Councils to discuss youth participation in local governance.

In Karlovac, Mayor Damir Mandić met with council members to hear their concerns. The young representatives highlighted issues such as the need for drinking water fountains at playgrounds, problems with water quality in certain schools, and the maintenance of school restrooms. Organizers emphasized that the council serves as a vital intermediary between students and the city administration.

In Vinkovci, Mayor Josip Romić met with the 17-member council, which includes representatives from local primary and music schools. The council, led by Children's Mayor Matko Šokčević and Deputy Lana Novaković, aims to provide children with a platform to suggest improvements for their community. The initiative focuses on workshops regarding children's rights, democracy, and equality.
