Croatian energy institutes highlight regional grid research and sovereignty forums

The Energetski institut Hrvoje Požar (EIHP) presented three research papers at the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, a major global gathering for electrical engineering experts. The presented works focused on prioritizing electricity infrastructure projects in Southeast Europe, advancing Western Balkan power grid modernization through regional planning and EU funding, and analyzing regulatory conditions for self-consumption in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Separately, the 10th International Energy Forum (INTERENEF) is scheduled for October 13, 2026, in Zagreb. Organized by the Institute for European and Globalisation Studies and the Atlantic Council of Croatia, the forum will address energy and food sovereignty within the context of deglobalization. The event will feature four thematic panels covering diplomatic perspectives, the role of corporate entities, the intersection of energy and technology, and national security comparisons between Croatia, the EU, and other nations.
