Croatian Festivals Showcase Dance in Šibenik, Vodice and Sibinj

The Šibenik Dance Festival celebrated its 15th anniversary from July 13‑18, expanding for the first time to the nearby town of Vodice. The international modern‑dance event attracted artists, choreographers and companies from Croatia and abroad, featuring a German ballet ensemble from Cottbus, Turkish‑Austrian performer Ziya Azazi and emerging Spanish and Portuguese choreographers. Free programs were staged at historic venues including the Barone Fortress and St. Michael’s Fortress, with festival director Zorana Mihelčić highlighting its role as a platform for artistic exchange.

In the same region, Sibinj hosted the sixth "Odvoračka Evening" on July 25 as part of the "Ljeto u Sibinju" series. Organized by local cultural groups and supported by the municipality, the event offered free food, a gastronomic showcase and performances by regional folk societies, drawing participants from the local community and the Croatian diaspora in Europe and Canada. Both events underline the vibrancy of contemporary dance and traditional folklore in Croatia’s Dalmatian and Slavonian areas.
