Croatian fishing associations celebrate major anniversaries
Two Croatian sports fishing associations recently celebrated major milestones. The Športsko-ribolovna udruga Goran from Brod na Kupi marked its 100th anniversary, honoring a century of protecting the Kupa River and its fish stocks. The association, which currently has approximately 130 members, focuses on preserving indigenous species such as grayling and brown trout. They also operate a fly fishing school to pass skills and environmental respect to younger generations.
Separately, the Sportsko ribolovno društvo Štuka in Donja Dubrava celebrated 60 years of operation. Founded in 1966, the society has become a significant part of the local social and sporting life. The anniversary event included representatives from the Croatian Sports Fishing Federation and local municipal leaders, recognizing the long-term contributions of members to the development of the sport in the region.
