Croatian Folklore Ensemble Matija Gubec Showcases Heritage at Mexican Festivals

The Croatian folk ensemble Matija Gubec will spend two weeks in Mexico performing at major international festivals to mark its 90th anniversary. The group will first appear at the XXIV Festival Internacional del Folclore in San Pedro Atocpan, near Mexico City, where it will present traditional songs, dances and costumes that represent the culture of Croatia, the city of Karlovac and Karlovac County.

After the Mexico‑City event, the ensemble will travel to Zacatecas to take part in the 29th Festival Zacatecas del Folclor Internacional “Gustavo Vaquera Contreras”. The performances aim to promote Croatian cultural heritage abroad and foster cultural exchange with other folkloric groups.

The tour coincides with the ensemble’s 90‑year milestone, highlighting a long tradition of preserving and sharing Croatian folklore on the global stage.
