Dinamo Zagreb dismisses coach Mario Kovačević
GNK Dinamo Zagreb has officially announced the mutual termination of coach Mario Kovačević’s contract following a 1:0 defeat against Rudeš in the 12th round of the SuperSport HNL. Kovačević, who joined the club in the summer of 2025 and led the team to a domestic double, leaves after 73 matches, recording 48 wins, 11 draws, and 14 losses.
Jerko Leko, formerly the coach of Dinamo B, will temporarily lead the first team for the upcoming matches against Sunderland in the Europa League and Varaždin in the domestic league. The club has not yet named a permanent successor, though media reports have linked various candidates to the position.
The departure follows a period of inconsistent results and pressure from fans and management. Reports suggest the severance package for Kovačević could range between 180,000 and 240,000 euros, which is notably lower than previous coaching departures at the club.
