Croatian gold market nears €1 billion as citizens turn to bullion for safety

Rising inflation and economic uncertainty have prompted a surge in demand for gold among Croatian citizens. Analysts estimate that the domestic market for investment gold could exceed €1 billion this year.

Two major dealers, Auro Domus and Centar Zlata, are expanding services to meet the trend. Auro Domus offers on‑site gold appraisal, immediate cash payments, and a range of certified bullion products, while Centar Zlata highlights tax‑free purchases, a mobile app for real‑time pricing, and free safe‑deposit storage for the first year.

Investors are attracted by gold’s historical price stability—650 % growth over 20 years and 165 % over the past five—its liquidity worldwide, and exemption from VAT and other taxes. The combined offerings make gold a popular hedge against the declining purchasing power of the kuna.
