Croatian government funds projects for Croat communities in Bosnia‑Herzegovina and Serbia

In October 2023, the local community of Rastovača in the municipality of Posušje (Bosnia‑Herzegovina) received a €20,000 grant from Croatia’s Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property. The money was used to renovate three playgrounds—Podlokva, Bešlići and Čuture—adding new furniture, safety fences, lighting and other infrastructure. Volunteers from the Sports Society Suveznici and residents carried out many works themselves, aiming to create safe, modern recreation spaces for children and the wider community. "Zajedništvom i aktivnim djelovanjem potičemo opstanak i razvoj naše mjesne zajednice," said a council member.

On the same day, Croatian Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Nataša Mikuš Žigman handed 25 contracts in Subotica to organisations supporting the Croat minority in Serbia. The program, now in its fifth year, has funded 133 projects worth about €3.3 million, focusing on culture, education, religious life and infrastructure. Officials said the aid is crucial for the survival of Croat associations and parishes, noting that without Croatian support they would be reduced to mere existence. "Bez pomoći Republike Hrvatske naše bi udruge i župe doista bile svedene na razinu opstojnosti," said HNV president Jasna Vojnić. The continuation of the programme is intended to preserve Croatian language, heritage and identity in Serbia.
