Croatian health institute finds no PFAS in Lika, Pag, and Rab water
The Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) has released new analysis results for public water supplies in the Lika-Senj County and on the islands of Pag and Rab. Testing conducted between October 12 and 15 confirmed that no PFAS compounds were detected above the limit of determination in any of the samples.
Since the commencement of enhanced monitoring on August 11, a total of 231 water samples from public networks have been processed and published. While four samples showed deviations in physicochemical parameters, officials stated these may be due to water stagnation in unused parts of internal plumbing and unfavorable hydrological conditions, rather than the Gospić landfill.
Additionally, three raw water samples from the Mrđenovac spring, Hrmotine water intake, and Tonković vrilo spring were analyzed. These samples failed to meet criteria due to microbiological indicators, but all other parameters were compliant, and no PFAS compounds were detected above the limit of determination. Enhanced monitoring continues in cooperation with county health institutes.
