Croatian man loses thousands in cryptocurrency trading fraud

Police in Zadar, Croatia, opened an investigation after a 38‑year‑old Croatian citizen reported being defrauded in an online cryptocurrency trading scheme. The victim suffered material losses amounting to several thousand euros. According to investigators, the scammers contacted the victim by phone, directed him to a fraudulent website, and urged him to install a malicious application that gave them remote control of his computer. The fake platform displayed fabricated earnings and pressured the victim to invest increasingly larger sums before the fraud was uncovered. Authorities warned the public to verify that any entity offering cryptocurrency services holds the proper licences in Croatia and to seek advice from qualified professionals before investing.
