Croatian midfielder Fran Tomek hit with nationalist slurs by Koper fans
Fran Tomek, a 24‑year‑old Croatian midfielder playing for Slovenian PrvaLiga side NK Koper, posted on Instagram that he was insulted and threatened by supporters of his own club. He said fans called him a “Ustaša”, insulted his family and issued threats, stating that poor results do not justify hate speech.
Club president Anto Guberac responded, condemning the hateful language and urging fans to support the team despite recent defeats. Koper currently sits fourth in the league and faces an upcoming match against Maribor, with the incident adding tension to the squad’s atmosphere.
