Croatian Miss World contestant Ema Helena Vičar travels to Vietnam promoting Adriatic sea protection

Ema Helena Vičar, the reigning Miss Croatia, will represent her country at the 73rd Miss World competition in Vietnam. The pageant runs from 9 August to 5 September 2026, opening in Hanoi and concluding with the final in Nha Trang. Vičar, a model, entrepreneur and postgraduate student of Luxury Brand Management in Monaco, said she will use the platform to highlight Croatia’s natural beauty and its sustainability efforts.

Her environmental project, titled “Blue Planet: A Purpose for Life,” focuses on removing abandoned fishing nets – known as ghost nets – from the Adriatic Sea and recycling the material into regenerated nylon for sustainable fashion. Between 2023 and 2025, around 100 tonnes of nets were collected under the initiative. During the competition Vičar will wear a custom‑designed gown featuring more than 500,000 Swarovski crystals, inspired by Plitvice Lakes and Krka National Parks, and will perform a lyrical dance in the talent segment. A farewell event in Šibenik featured a promotional video showcasing Croatia’s landmarks, reinforcing the country’s tourism appeal.
