Croatian MP Branko Kolarić Leaves Social Democratic Party (SDP)

Parliamentary representative Branko Kolarić announced his departure from Croatia’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) after more than two decades of involvement. He had served as president of the party’s Zagreb organization and won an internal Zagreb election, which he later described as his “biggest crime” in the party.

Kolarić said he could not accept the dissolution of the Zagreb branch, a lack of trust from the party leadership, and accusations that he was a “token” of the rival HDZ. He affirmed that he will retain his seat in the Sabor and does not feel any debt toward the SDP.

He criticized the party’s internal dynamics and the direction of the left, urging the movement to focus on what it wants rather than what it opposes.
