Croatian multimedia art project presented in Athens celebrates Zadar heritage
A multimedia art project titled “Slike vremena… zvukovi sjećanja” was showcased last week at the Filological Society Parnassos in Athens. The interdisciplinary event combined music, photography and film to introduce the cultural heritage of Zadar and Croatia to Greek audiences.
The project, initiated in 2022 by the Zara Art Organization and artistic leader Tee Kulaš, featured an organ recital by Kulaš herself and a world premiere composition by Berislav Šipuš, inspired by the black‑and‑white photographs of Zadar’s renowned 20th‑century photographer Zvonimir Brkan. Works by Brkan’s contemporaries Alba Vidaković and Krste Odak were also performed. Greek curator Eleni Varopoulou and art historian Zrinka Brkan Klarin contributed curatorial and archival expertise, while Greek multimedia artist Hristos Tolis designed the lighting and spatial setup.
The presentation received a strong public response and was highlighted as a successful example of cultural diplomacy, fostering future collaboration between Croatian and Greek artists and institutions.
