Croatian Parliament to vote on state budget rebalance
The Croatian Parliament is scheduled to vote this week on a rebalance of the state budget. Under the proposal, revenues are set to increase by 853 million euros to a total of 36.6 billion euros, while expenditures will rise by 745 million euros to 40.6 billion euros. This adjustment aims to reduce the state budget deficit from 4.1 percent to 4 percent.
The increase in revenue is primarily driven by a 527.6 million euro rise in tax revenues and 171.7 million euros from contributions. The rise in expenditures is largely directed toward pensions, salaries, social benefits, and maternity support. Additionally, approximately 240 million euros are allocated for strategic projects in railways, defense, energy, and earthquake recovery, with another 140 million euros designated for measures to protect citizen standards and economic competitiveness.
Opposition members have submitted 31 amendments focused on increasing investments in healthcare, education, student standards, social welfare, and local infrastructure. The parliamentary session will also include discussions on implementing EU regulations regarding machinery safety and proposed amendments to the Hunting Act.
