Croatian Party Most Demands Public Health Exams for Zaprešić Athletes

The centrist party Most warned that more than 3,000 athletes from Zaprešić and nearby municipalities are forced to undergo medical examinations in a private clinic because the public health centre lacks a specialist, even though it has its own laboratory, equipment and staff. Party representatives Luka Jović and Ivan Bekavac said the current system leaves parents to pay at least €70 per exam. They called for the examinations to be offered in the public system, proposing co‑financing of additional occupational‑medicine specialists and the use of existing facilities. Most also criticised the national regulation on athlete health checks as vague and not differentiated by age, sport intensity or risk, noting that a seven‑year‑old cannot be examined under the same protocol as a professional. The party has asked the Ministry of Health to amend the rule promptly.
