Croatian Party of Pensioners reports major pension reforms

The Croatian Party of Pensioners (HSU) has highlighted several legislative achievements aimed at improving the living standards of retirees in Croatia. Key reforms include a new pension indexation formula, which shifts the ratio from 70:30 to 85:15 as of July 1, 2025, allowing pensions to better track wage and price increases.

Additionally, a permanent annual pension supplement based on years of service was introduced in 2025. The first payments, totaling 217 million euros, were distributed to over 1.2 million pensioners at a rate of 6 euros per year of service. Other measures include a 10 percent increase in disability pensions, a 3 percent increase for the lowest pensions, and the removal of penalties for early retirement for individuals aged 70 and older, effective January 1, 2026.
