Croatian PM Andrej Plenković opens sports hall in minority village Korođ

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković inaugurated a new sports hall at the primary school in Korođ, a village in Vukovar‑Srijem County populated mainly by the Hungarian minority. The €2.5 million facility was fully financed by the Croatian government under a bilateral minority‑protection agreement with Hungary and the government’s operational programme for the Hungarian minority (2024‑2028). Attendees included Hungarian Minister of Social Relations and Culture Zoltán Tarr and several Croatian ministers.

During the same visit Plenković also opened the Creative Children’s Centre “Idem” in Ernestinovo, a project valued at almost €4 million and co‑funded by the Interreg VI and IPA Croatia‑Serbia programmes. Both projects illustrate the government’s investment in minority‑populated areas and cross‑border cultural cooperation.
