Police alert citizens to phishing, bank fraud and fake investment scams in Croatia and Montenegro

Croatian police reported multiple computer‑fraud incidents. In Slavonski Brod, a 23‑year‑old was tricked by a fraudulent online ad, entered his personal and card details on a fake link and lost about €500. In nearby Nove Gradišće, an 82‑year‑old’s bank card and PIN were used to withdraw several hundred euros.

In Rijeka, two victims fell for bogus SMS messages purporting to be from their banks. A 71‑year‑old lost roughly €2,490 after entering an activation code on a fake site, while a 55‑year‑old was defrauded of about €2,900 plus $400 by providing login credentials on a spoofed banking page. Police urge immediate contact with banks and reporting of such scams.

Montenegrin police also warned of an internet fraud scheme presented as an investment platform named CGInvest. The site falsely used photos and statements of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, promising guaranteed daily earnings of €80 or more for an initial investment of €220‑€250. Authorities advise citizens not to send money or personal data to such offers and are cooperating with prosecutors and international partners to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.
