Croatian Red Cross marks 30 years of lifesaving service
The Croatian Red Cross (HCK) is marking 30 years of its Lifesaving Service. Over the past three decades, the organization has trained more than 9,500 lifesavers, whose interventions have saved nearly 700 lives.
In addition to general lifesavers, the HCK has prepared 200 members of an intervention team for water rescues in crisis situations. The service also focuses heavily on prevention and education, having trained approximately 2,500 junior lifesavers and reached 40,000 children through swimming training programs.
As part of Croatia's civil protection operational forces, these teams participate in demanding search and rescue operations, such as recent searches on the Drava and Sava rivers. The HCK has been a member of the International Life Saving Federation (ILSE) since 1996, ensuring its water safety and rescue standards meet international recognition.
