Croatian religious communities celebrate St. Jerome and Father Celestin Tomić
The Croatian Franciscan Province of St. Jerome held its Province Day on the island of Vis, marking the 20th anniversary of the death of Father Celestin Tomić. Tomić was a prominent biblical scholar, theologian, and spiritual writer whose life and work left a significant mark on Croatian Franciscan and biblical heritage. The commemorative Mass was celebrated by Cardinal Dominique Mathieu, Archbishop of Tehran and Isfahan.
In Rome, the Croatian community celebrated the feast of St. Jerome, the patron saint of the Papal Croatian Institute of St. Jerome. The event also marked the 125th anniversary of the Institute's founding, established in 1901 by Pope Leo XIII. The celebration was led by Monsignor Petar Rajič, Prefect of the Papal Household, and attended by various members of the diplomatic corps, including representatives from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovakia.
