Croatian Speaker Jandroković Says Military Strength Alone Insufficient for State Resilience at NATO Istanbul Summit
Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković addressed the NATO Parliamentary Summit in Istanbul, stating that military strength, while an essential deterrent, cannot by itself ensure a state's resilience. He highlighted that resilience also depends on technological and economic development, protection of critical infrastructure, and political cohesion. Jandroković noted that Russia's aggression in Ukraine has permanently altered Europe's security landscape, with hybrid threats and emerging technologies increasingly shaping societies. He called for the Alliance to adapt to new security challenges, strengthen trans‑Atlantic cooperation, increase defence spending, and view support for Ukraine as an investment in long‑term Euro‑Atlantic security. He urged NATO to apply lessons from the Ukraine war, especially in countering unmanned systems and long‑range strikes, and announced that after the summit the parliamentary heads will visit the Turkish defence firm Baykar at its National Technology Center.
