Croatian sports officials discuss funding and success at Sport Fest

At the Sport Fest conference in Poreč, organized with the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO), various stakeholders addressed the current state of sports in Croatia. Slaven Bilić, the coach of the Croatian national football team, emphasized that patriotism and a sense of national duty are primary drivers of the country's sporting success, alongside talent and hard work.

Separately, representatives of national non-Olympic sports federations met with HOO President Josip Varvodić and acting Secretary General Milan Pavelić to discuss systemic challenges. The federations raised concerns regarding insufficient funding, difficulties in securing sponsors, administrative burdens, and the need for better medical examinations for athletes. To address these issues, Varvodić proposed more frequent meetings to facilitate better communication and support for the various sports associations.
