Croatian summer festivals attract crowds in Čakovec and Zagreb
The five‑day Porcijunkulovo festival in Čakovec showcases the city's historic centre, Perivoj Zrinski park and a range of local foods such as the regional gibanica, wines and the spiced drink gvirc. The event highlights artisans, producers and traditional cuisine, drawing visitors who enjoy the lively atmosphere of the city’s streets and markets.
Meanwhile, the Čvenk festival stages a summer programme across Zagreb’s Upper Town from 16 July to 26 July. Free‑flowing cultural events include theatre performances in historic atriums, creative workshops, exhibitions, pub quizzes, board‑game sessions and nightly concerts. Food stalls offer street‑food items, gyoza and a selection of drinks, while venues such as the Institute for History garden and the Jelačić Palace combine music and gastronomy.
