Croatian towns offer free summer transport for high‑school interns as student job demand rises

The municipalities of Kravarsko, Pokupsko and Orle in Croatia are providing free and subsidised public transport for secondary‑school pupils who must complete mandatory vocational practice in July and August. Students must submit a request with either an employer’s confirmation or a school certificate to receive a funded monthly or demonstration ticket. Each town has outlined specific procedures for obtaining the necessary confirmation, either in person or by e‑mail.

At the same time, a record 570 high‑school students have signed up through the Student Service of the Hospitality‑Tourism School in Osijek for summer employment, a rise of about 60 participants from the previous year. Most will work locally in Osijek or nearby, while a quarter will be employed on the coast. The minimum student hourly wage is €6.56 net, with a 50% increase for work on Sundays, holidays, nights or overtime, though minors are prohibited from night shifts or overtime. The service continues to recruit throughout the school year for the 2025/2026 season.
