Croatian towns Požega and Gospić approve multi‑million euro budgets for community projects

The Požega City Council approved a €3.35 million loan from Zagrebačka banka to fund two capital projects: the revitalisation of Požega’s historic centre and the construction of a sports hall at the Julija Kempfa primary school. The loan, fixed at 3.20% interest, will be repaid over ten years. The council also authorised a building‑rights agreement for the FUTURRA science‑research centre, a project to be co‑financed by EU cohesion funds.

In Gospić, the municipality secured more than €395 000 for children, sport and community organisations in 2026, nearly doubling the amount allocated in 2023. Over €263 000 is earmarked for sports clubs, €60 000 for youth and educational programmes, and €52 000 for associations of war veterans. Mayor Milinović noted, “We have increased investments for sports and other associations by almost double compared to 2023, showing our care for sport, culture, children and the legacy of the Homeland War.”
