Croatian towns revamp waterfronts and expand beach accessibility

The city of Poreč completed a 1,306‑square‑metre upgrade of its waterfront, adding stone paving, new benches with planters, and improved ramps for people with reduced mobility. The design was produced by Kostrenčić & Krebel and the construction carried out by Kamen d.d., continuing a multi‑year effort to create a continuous, accessible promenade along the most frequented part of the town.

In Rijeka, the municipal council approved a budget of €20,000 to fund two assistants who will help people with disabilities at the Kostanj beach during the 2026 season, with part of the financing provided directly by the city and part through a contract with the local disability association. The council also rejected a request from a developer to extend the deadline for completing the Žabica complex, citing contractual delays and imposing a penalty for further postponements.
