Croatian UGP protests planned tax hikes for small entrepreneurs

The Association of Entrepreneurs (Udruga Glas poduzetnika, UGP) rejected Prime Minister Andrej Plenković’s claim that entrepreneurs are silent when the government limits energy prices, stating that earlier subsidies were funded by taxpayers, not government charity. UGP warned that upcoming tax increases for paušalni obrtnici (small‑business operators) and minor landlords will raise contributions by 30% to 66% depending on income brackets, adding to existing costs such as tourist taxes and property levies.

UGP announced it has collected around 40,000 signatures opposing the measures and will organise a protest in the autumn. The association called for transparent state spending and better public services, arguing that higher taxes do not translate into improved conditions for businesses or citizens.
