Croatian veterans demand Jakov Jozinović cancel Niš concerts

Croatian veterans' associations, including the Association of Croatian Homeland War Veterans 91 (UHBDR91), are calling on singer Jakov Jozinović to cancel his upcoming concerts in Niš, Serbia. The performances are scheduled for November 13 and 14 at the Čair Sports Center.

Mladen Pavković, president of UHBDR91, criticized the timing of the concerts, noting they occur just days before the Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Homeland War and the Remembrance Day for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja. Pavković described the choice of dates and location as ‘scandalous and insulting to all victims of the Homeland War.’

This is not the first time Jozinović has faced backlash for performing in Serbia. In March, similar calls were made regarding a concert in Novi Sad. While the associations highlighted that Croatian prisoners were held in Niš during the war, it was noted that the Čair Sports Center itself was not a detention site, though prisoners were held in local correctional and military facilities.
