Croatians leaving Germany outnumber arrivals, Destatis data shows

Official data from the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, indicates a net outflow of Croatian citizens from Germany. Last year, while over 11,000 Croatian nationals immigrated to Germany, more than 22,000 departed the country, meaning twice as many people left as arrived.

Discussions regarding this trend highlight varying motivations for migration and return. While some individuals consider returning to Croatia for personal reasons such as family proximity or caring for elderly parents, many long-term residents express no intention of returning. These residents often cite the stability of life abroad, noting that economic benefits and structured employment systems provide significant advantages for long-term planning and retirement security.
