Croatia's Agency for Legal Transactions Publishes Final List for Affordable Rental Program
The Agency for Legal Transactions and Real Estate Brokerage (APN) released the final priority list for Croatia's affordable rental program after reviewing 98 objections. Of the 1,315 tenant applications received between 15 April and 15 May, 1,103 were approved, 195 rejected and 17 withdrawn.
The program currently includes 282 private‑owner properties and eight newly renovated state apartments (five in Pula and three in Zadar) out of a total of 329 state flats being upgraded in about 50 cities. Of those, 99 are completed, 42 under renovation and 188 in design or procurement stages.
Tenants will be offered units in their chosen local government area, with a size allocation of 35 m² per adult and an additional 10 m² for each family member. Rent plus utilities may not exceed 30 % of household monthly income. Property owners will receive 60 % of the long‑term rent upfront, the remainder after half the contract term, and may lease the unit to APN for 3‑10 years. Matching of tenants to properties is slated to begin next week.
