Croatia's Istrian Ypsilon Highway Nears Completion, Mattuglie Interchange Set to Open Early

The construction of the Istrian Ypsilon highway's Mattuglie interchange in Croatia is progressing ahead of schedule. Minister for the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković visited the site together with officials from Hrvatske autoceste, Bina‑Istra, regional presidents and the mayor of Matuglie, confirming that the first four‑kilometre stretch from the Monte Maggiore tunnel toward Mattuglie will be open to traffic within ten days, and the viaduct over the Leme Canal will be finished by the end of August.

The entire 10.5‑kilometre segment, including the new interchange linking the Ypsilon to the national motorway network, is now expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2027, several months earlier than originally planned. Once completed, the highway will allow a continuous full‑profile drive from Zagreb to Pula in roughly two and a half hours.
