Croatian Railway Firm HŽ Infrastruktura Secures €30 million Revolving Loan
The Croatian government approved a state guarantee allowing HŽ Infrastruktura to obtain a €30 million revolving loan from Zagrebačka banka. The financing, fixed at a 1.93 % annual interest rate and usable for 12 months, is intended to cover liquidity needs arising from the timing gap between payment obligations to contractors and the receipt of EU‑funded cash flows. The loan will support projects financed under EU programmes such as the Connecting Europe Facility, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (2021‑2026) and the Competitiveness and Cohesion Programme (2021‑2027). The government also authorised a separate €513 000 loan for the town of Novigrad to build access roads. The credit line is not expected to affect the 2026 state budget, and a fiscal impact would arise only if HŽ fails to meet its obligations.
