Border crossings experience heavy congestion between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia

Heavy traffic and long vehicle queues are being reported at several border crossings between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia due to the peak summer holiday season. Significant delays are noted at crossings such as Zupci, Novi Grad, Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Gradina, and Hum.

In addition to seasonal congestion, travelers are facing delays due to the implementation of the EU's new Entry/Exit System (EES). Ongoing roadworks also affect transit, including construction on the Nemila-Vranduk highway section and maintenance on the A-1 motorway.

In Croatia, the Croatian Motorways (HAC) is currently installing over 220 new toll collection portals to modernize the system, with full operationality expected in 2027. However, officials warn that new technology may not fully eliminate summer congestion if traffic loads remain excessively high.
