Croatia's SDP‑Možemo! coalition faces HDZ attacks as election campaign heats up
Matej Mišić, president of Zagreb's City Assembly and leader of the SDP in the capital, said the party is satisfied with its cooperation with Možemo! and expects SDP leader Siniša Hajdaš Dončić to be the coalition's prime‑ministerial candidate. He highlighted several SDP‑driven budget amendments, including funding for homes for the elderly, a new primary school, a kindergarten and subsidies for glasses and newborn allowances.
Political analyst Jerko Trogrlić noted that the pre‑election campaign in Croatia has already begun in earnest. He described a sharp escalation of rhetoric after a recent parliamentary committee incident, with HDZ members using harsh language against Možemo! and SDP figures. Trogrlić warned that while HDZ is targeting the coalition, the intensity of the campaign is unlikely to be sustained for the two‑year stretch leading to parliamentary elections.
