Crocodile Farm and Zoo sees visitor surge amid animal welfare debate

The Crocodile Farm and Zoo in Samut Prakan, Thailand, has seen a resurgence in visitors following social media campaigns aimed at supporting the facility, its staff, and animal care.

Comedian Ball Chuenyim participated in the movement by visiting the zoo and creating content for social media to attract more tourists. While his visit helped revitalize the site, a TikTok video featuring him participating in an elephant show sparked significant debate. Some social media users raised concerns regarding animal welfare, questioning whether sitting on an elephant’s tusks causes the animal pain or distress.

Other users defended the comedian, arguing that his intentions were to generate revenue to assist the zoo's operations. The facility, which originally opened in 1950, continues to offer crocodile and elephant performances as part of its historical attractions.
