Crofton Community Centre Society revives free Movies in the Park series

The Crofton Community Centre Society is once again hosting its annual free Movies in the Park outdoor screenings in August 2026. The event, a long‑standing summertime tradition in Crofton, British Columbia, will open with the film “Gran Turismo” on August 8 and continue with a selection of family‑friendly movies later in the month.

Society president Rick Lebitschnig explained that the volunteer‑run organization pays licensing fees and offers the films at no charge, selling popcorn and candy for a loonie each. A committee of parents and volunteers selects titles from a catalogue of publicly licensed films. Recent upgrades include replacing a fabric screen with a portable inflatable one to simplify setup. The society also manages the community hall and the Osborne Bay Terrace retirement home, and it regularly hosts other local events such as Crofton Day celebrations and a Halloween costume contest.
