Croky Cup: History and Format of Belgium’s National Football Competition

The Croky Cup is Belgium’s national football cup organized by the Belgian Football Union. Its first edition took place in the 1911‑12 season, succeeding the earlier provincial cup.

The competition was suspended during World War I, revived in 1926 with a two‑phase format, and in 2015 adopted the name “Croky Cup” after a new sponsor. It is open to every club affiliated with the Union; lower‑division teams start the early rounds, while clubs from the top division join at the round of 16.
