Cronos film explores 2017 Catalonia terrorist attacks

The film ‘Cronos’, directed by Fernando González Molina, has been released. The thriller reconstructs the events surrounding the August 17, 2017, terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils, which resulted in 16 deaths and 137 injuries.

Zakaria Ghordou Aaidoun, an actor from Rubí, portrays one of the terrorists hospitalized following the attacks. Ghordou, who secured the role through his agency La Divina Actores, performed an emotional scene filmed at the Hospital de Manresa. He also provided the Spanish-language voiceover for his character.

The film’s release has prompted discussions regarding social integration in Catalonia. It examines the complexities of how individuals who appeared well-integrated into local society—speaking the language and participating in community life—could become involved in radicalization.
