Cronulla Sharks lose to Raiders amid Braydon Trindall injury

The Cronulla Sharks suffered a 24-20 defeat to the Canberra Raiders in Round 23, a loss compounded by a significant injury to playmaker Braydon Trindall. Trindall dislocated his right shoulder in the fifth minute of the match while scoring the opening try. Although medical staff were able to reset the shoulder on-site, he was unable to return to the game. Scans are pending to determine if the injury requires surgery, but he is expected to miss several weeks, potentially impacting the Sharks' pursuit of a top-four NRL finish.

The Raiders secured the victory behind a strong performance from Joseph Tapine, who scored a decisive try in the 60th minute. Despite tries from Cronulla’s Teig Wilton and Will Kennedy, the Raiders maintained control to overcome an early 8-0 deficit. The Sharks are also facing other roster challenges, including an ankle injury to Billy Burns and the recent season-ending pectoral surgery of centre Jesse Ramien.
