Crooswijk community center faces demolition in Rotterdam

The Warme Huiskamer, a community meeting space located on Plerestraat in the Crooswijk district of Rotterdam, is at risk of closure. According to Stichting Wijkcultuur, the facility must vacate the premises by February 1, 2027, due to planned demolition, and no replacement location has been secured.

The SP Rotterdam political party is calling on the municipality to intervene and assist in preserving the center. SP faction leader Emin Başoğlu emphasized the importance of affordable community spaces in Rotterdam, urging the city council to collaborate with Stichting Wijkcultuur and local residents.

The party has requested that the municipal executive develop a housing plan, including financing and potential temporary solutions, by December 1 to ensure community activities can continue without interruption.
