Cross liga Drava wins EU #BeActive award for intergenerational sport

The Marathon 95 Varaždin running club’s Cross liga Drava was awarded the prestigious #BeActive EU Sport Awards in the Across Generations category by the European Commission. The league, a three‑decade‑old recreational event in Varaždin that brings together children, youth, adults and seniors, was selected from 279 projects submitted from across Europe and named the winner after reaching the final three. The award was presented on 23 June 2026 in Brussels to club representatives Jadranka Težački and Ivica Bađun. County prefect Anđelko Stričak congratulated the club, noting the league’s role in fostering lifelong physical activity, intergenerational solidarity and community belonging. As Ivica Bađun said, “Osvajanje nagrade veliko je priznanje i potvrda da su naš dugogodišnji rad, promicanje sporta i povezivanje različitih generacija prepoznati i izvan Hrvatske.”
