Cross River Commissioner Eka Williams Abang dies in Abuja

Dr. Eka Williams Abang, the Cross River State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, has died in Abuja. His death was reported on Sunday, September 13, 2026, following medical treatment in Nigeria’s capital.

Reports indicate that the Commissioner may have slumped in Abuja, though official medical records and specific circumstances surrounding his passing have not been released. His brother, Nkang William, described the death as sudden and difficult for the family to process. Colleagues and political associates expressed shock, noting that he had been active in recent days.

Dr. Williams is the second commissioner under Governor Bassey Otu’s administration to pass away, following the death of the former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Abubakar Robert Ewa, in January 2025.
