Croteam and Devolver Digital announce Serious Sam: The Third Encounter

Croteam and Devolver Digital have officially announced Serious Sam: The Third Encounter, a new entry in the cult-classic first-person shooter series. Currently in early development, the game is confirmed to be a direct sequel to Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, picking up the story exactly where the 2002 title left off rather than serving as a prequel or spin-off.

The upcoming title aims to return to the franchise's arcade roots, focusing on high-intensity, bullet-hell action featuring massive hordes of enemies, larger-than-life foes, and an expanded arsenal of powerful weaponry. Players will navigate diverse alien worlds and twisted strongholds while continuing the battle against the antagonist, Mental.

Serious Sam: The Third Encounter is being developed exclusively for PC via Steam, with no console versions announced at this time. While a specific release date has not been set, the game is available to be added to Steam wishlists. The title will support both solo play and cooperative multiplayer modes.
