Crotone Archdiocese reports fraud attempt involving fake Bishop's envoys

The Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina has reported an attempted fraud to law enforcement after two individuals falsely claimed to be representatives of the Bishop at a local scientific high school. The individuals reportedly attempted to sell paintings to the school, asserting they had been sent by ecclesiastical authority.

The scheme was intercepted by a teacher who became suspicious and alerted the Curia. In response, the Archdiocese has notified the police and Carabinieri to investigate the incident.

To prevent further misuse of the Bishop's name, the diocesan service for school pastoral care has issued warnings to school administrators throughout the region. The Archdiocese clarified that no person has been authorized to promote or sell products or initiatives on behalf of the Bishop or the diocesan ecclesiastical authority.
